Woman with chronic diarrhea, flushing and exertional dyspnea: Hedinger’s syndrome
Abstract
A 58-year-old woman with chronic secretory diarrhea, lower limb edema, dyspnea on slight exertion with intermittent flushing, with imaging and ancillary studies compatible with a primary carcinoid tumor of the cecum associated with carcinoid heart syndrome: Hedinger syndrome. She was treated with somatostatin analogues and underwent tricuspid valve replacement surgery, with good clinical evolution; however, she later died of sudden death. This would be the first case reported in our country.
